A recent post on a Korean forum sparked heated discussion about the rapidly shifting public opinion toward NJZ (NewJeans), with netizens expressing confusion over what seems like a sharp turn from support to backlash.
The original Pann post, which was titled, “Why is public opinion on New Jeans suddenly so bad?”, reads, “In the past, the situation wasn’t this bad, but when I check the comment section on YouTube news coverage, people are all criticizing NewJeans. Wasn’t the general public more favorable towards them? Nevertheless, it seems that people on Twitter are generally more positive.”

However, under the comment sections, many netizens were quick to push back on the idea that support for the group remains strong, insisting that NewJeans is losing the public’s support.
One highly upvoted reply stated, “It’s been like this since the end of last year, and today it finally came to an end. They’re just manipulating top comments on forums, and even on TheQoo, which had always sided with them unconditionally, they’re now cutting ties with NewJeans and attacking them. There’s no way to sway public opinion anymore if anything, the forums are only manipulated with fake top comments. But if you actually go around and check the upvote/downvote numbers on NewJeans-related posts, regardless of the comments, the number of people criticizing them is overwhelmingly higher. Manipulating comments is easy, but if you try to upvote a post using multiple accounts, you get locked out immediately.”

Meanwhile, another expressed, “The injunction was granted, and all their attempts to manipulate public opinion have been exposed.”
Some even claimed fandom politics are influencing the shift, stating, “It’s because SM fans saw no more value in using NewJeans and discarded them without hesitation.”

Another harshly criticized the group’s legal stance, saying, “NewJeans fans’ coordinated attack power has weakened, and logically, there’s no way to defend Min Hee-jin and NewJeans’ actions. They’re trying to break the contract and leave on their own terms. lol. Today’s injunction ruling showed that they had no solid evidence and were just dragging things out. The public saw this, and now they’ve completely lost public support.“

A final commenter dismissed the idea that NewJeans still had support, sharing, “Just check the top comments on Instiz (a prominent Korean forum) before talking. What do you mean, defending NewJeans? Instagram and YouTube have already been wrecked for a long time..”
Despite ongoing support from some Twitter users and international fans, the court’s decision to grant ADOR’s injunction has clearly intensified domestic skepticism. Whether NJZ can recover from this reputational fallout remains uncertain.
